Job Description

The Royal Automotive Group is looking for an experienced Title Clerk. The ideal candidate will have dealership experience as well as experience processing car deals. The Title Clerk will be able to verify costs for the accounting department, including the costs of reconditioning and equipment add-ons, and handle the legal transfer of documents for the Department of Motor Vehicles.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Processes all new vehicles for registration in the state in which they will be titled.
  • Prepares tax and title documents.
  • Submits all legal transfer work to the Department of Motor Vehicles.
  • Verifies that funds have been collected and the correct lienholder paid off before processing title applications.
  • Checks for accuracy in the application and ensures that all information is complete.
  • Prepares payoff checks for new vehicles and trade-ins.
  • Bills out all dealer trades and prepares Certificates of Origin.
  • Compiles and maintains a complete list of all outstanding title work. Reports to management on the status of any missing or problem titles.
  • Posts vehicle sales and purchases.
  • Stays abreast of title regulations. Attends seminars held by local licensing bureaus and any available training on title regulations. 
  • Reports vehicle delivery and applies for rebates through manufacturer computer system.
  • Serves as county liaison for temporary registration plate program.
  • Cross-trains others to handle title clerk daily responsibilities.
  • Directs title runner in daily routines.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and a neat work area.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Has at least 2 years Title work experience in a dealership setting
  • Must have an impressive work-ethic
  • Neat, clean, and professional appearance
  • Must be organized and have the ability to problem solve
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence 
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
