Industrial Designer at Tennant Company Location Golden Valley, MN (Hybrid) Opportunity The Tennant Company Industrial Design Team is excited to announce an opportunity to join our group and make meaningful contributions to shaping the future of our global product portfolio. Our "Customer Obsessed" team collaborates with cross-functional partners to understand and address our customers' needs through research, innovation, and production design. Whether sketching new concepts in VR, working on UI/UX for robotic cleaning machines, or assisting with new research, a Tennant designer will have the chance to significantly impact the growth of Tennant Company and advance their personal career. Required Education and Skills

  • Completion of an Industrial Design degree by spring of 2025
  • 0-3 years of experience in industrial design
  • Exceptional sketching skills and ability to explore and visualize 3D forms
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with an intense desire to improve the status quo by asking “How might we?”
  • Must have a coachable spirit and play well with others
  • Solid grasp of product aesthetics combined with a practical mindset for functional design and innovation
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, 3D CAD software, preferably SolidWorks; familiarity with VR development is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and visual, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly
  • Knowledge of various manufacturing processes and materials
  • Aptitude for creating clear, elegant graphic icons and user interfaces
  • Ability to contribute to user research and apply insights to design solutions
  • Understand ergonomic best practices and how to incorporate them in your solutions
  • Interest in tools, robotics, and mobile equipment is a plus
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality standards
  • Familiarity with sustainability practices in design and manufacturing
Job activities Work at Tennant Company is rarely dull. As an Industrial Designer on our team, you will:
  • Employ design thinking methodology to develop creative solutions to our customers’ problems through sketch concepts and 3D prototypes
  • Create high-quality 2D sketches and renderings to support internal development processes
  • Utilize the latest design software, including Gravity Sketch VR and Vizcom AI, to enhance design capabilities
  • Understand, follow, and evolve the Tennant Visual Brand Language to ensure consistency and innovation in design
  • Make compelling presentations for recommendations or critiques with Industrial Design, Engineering, and Marketing team members
  • Assist in UI/UX design for physical and touch-screen controls, ensuring user-friendly interfaces
  • Create production artwork files for product and branding labels, maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy
